Endorsement from Jared Eldridge -- Juab County Attorney

I have known Craig Sperry for the past eight years.  During those eight years I have worked with Craig on several different County projects.  It is clear to me Craig has a wealth of experience that has been critical to the success of the projects we have worked on together.  Craig's experience, knowledge and leadership has been indispensable to Juab County.  I believe Craig has been an exemplary public servant and served the citizens of Juab County very competently.  Craig is not only a very experienced and knowledgeable professional, he is also a good man.  The citizens of Juab County will be well served if they re-elect Craig Sperry as the Juab County Recorder and Surveyor.

Endorsement from Rex Galloway -- Title Industry

I have been associated with Craig Sperry for over 35 years.  First as employees at Security Title & Abstract Company in Provo, Utah.  Then as associates in the Title Industry.  I have watched as Craig has guided the Juab County Recorders office from a manual abstracting system to a high tech computerized system including new plats.  Because of Craig Sperry, Juab County now has one of the best systems in the state.  When you have one of the best as your County Recorder you need to keep him.  The voters of Juab County need to vote to keep Craig Sperry as County Recorder in this November’s election.

Juab County Plats

During Craig Sperry's tenure in office, the State of Utah passed a law requiring all counties to update their plats.  There was a great deal of expense involved in such a huge project.

This is what the plats looked like prior to being redrawn.

This is how the same plat looks today.

While Craig was in the process, the State of Utah withdrew the funding for the project but left the new law in place.  He continued to follow protocol and submitted the maps to the State.

The State of Utah didn't want to pay the funds they had promised so Craig challenged the Board of Examiners which consisted of the governor, attorney general and the state auditor.

A decision was made that the money was owed Juab County and the State of Utah paid what they had promised.  Craig saved the taxpayers of Juab County a great deal of money by taking this action.  He was the only recorder in the state to do so.

Congratulations, Craig!

Endorsement from Sanpete County Recorder

The workings of a County Recorder's office takes years of experience to understand the effects of laws on the office and how to do the job.  Craig Sperry has that experience.  He has over thirty years of understanding the problems that you face daily in a Recorder's office and what effect it has on your land ownership.

Endorsement from Oil and Gas Land Person

Craig has arranged the system of recording documents and maintaining the records of Juab County in a neat and orderly way, making the information readily available and easy to access.  Craig has an advantage over anybody else because he continues generations of planning and application of recording procedures that work.  For Craig, its not just a matter of doing the work, it's a matter of understanding HOW the system is designed so changes can be made easily as needed. The system Craig oversees makes it easy and quick for outsiders to come into the county, do their research (title and geneology) and report back to their principals who make the money spending decisions. I've worked in counties all over the U.S. and have not seen a better set-up than Juab County, Utah.

Endorsement from Paul Newton -- Title Industry

Since 1980, I have known Craig Sperry.  Like me, Craig is cut from conservative title cloth.  He wants title documents processed correctly.  He understands the process and its intricacies.  He maintains an accurate public record.  This record, of which he is the steward, is essential to a democratic republic.   It allows for property to be freely transferred and improved and enjoyed by its owner.  His efforts have made the public records in Juab County some of the most reliable in all of the State of Utah.  His re-election to the position of Juab County Recorder will continue this established tradition of excellence.

Endorsement from Spectrum Engineering

This is a copy of a letter the Juab County Recorders Office received in 2004.

To highlight a section:

". . . Craig Sperry and his staff in the Recorder's Office have done an exceptional job of both organizing and computerizing the mining records.  In addition, the mining claim plats they generated are the most complete record I have ever found in 25 years of working with mining claims. . . . "

Endorsement from Bob Steele - Mining Industry

I have been mining and filing mining claims for many years.  The records in the Juab County Recorder's Office, under the direction of Craig Sperry, are better organized and more easily accessed than any other county I have been in.  They are able to answer my questions and always do it in a friendly and professional manner.  Other counties could take lessons on how to maintain mining records from the Juab County Recorder.

Endorsement from Oil and Gas Land Person

Having worked in Juab County as a newcomer to Utah, I was amazed at the ease of running records in the Recorder's Office.  Craig, Debbie and Sharlene all made a long job assignment easy and successful.  The records are in excellent order and the books are kept in very good condition. The organization of the Recorder's Office made this one of my most enjoyable work experiences ever.  Craig and both ladies were always ready to help with any questions I had and were always friendly.  I think the most important thing to me is that so many people who work in the Recorder's Offices across the country don't know the answers to questions I have frequently, but that is definitely not the case in Juab County.  Craig Sperry has made sure that anyone who works in his office understands and can explain their system.  In the work I do, that is a gift.  Thank you, Craig, for providing an exemplary case of a #1 Records system.

Endorsement from Millard County Recorder

I have known Craig Sperry for many years, I first met him at a County Recorder training meeting.  When Linda Carter, past recorder for Millard County, passed away and I was appointed to take her place.   Even after working in the recorders office for 13 years as a chief deputy, there were many things I needed to learn.  Craig was there to help.  He has always been involved in the different committees in the Recorders Associations from legislative issues to cadastral mapping courses.  He is very knowledgeable about the laws and how the office should be run.  The recorders office is not an office that can just be stepped into, you need to have the knowledge of property title, cadastral mapping, surveying, new computer software, how to work with state and federal legislators. Craig Sperry can do that, he is a great asset to Juab County.  I support and recommend Craig Sperry to continue to be Juab County Recorder.
